What to Do After a South Carolina Car Accident

The key to preserving the value of your car accident case is to preserve and collect relevant evidence as soon as possible. There are several things you can do after a car accident to gather and preserve valuable evidence, including:

  • Take pictures and video of everything at the scene of the crash;
  • Take pictures of any damage to vehicles;
  • Take pictures of the other cars involved and their license plates;
  • Get the contact and insurance information of any drivers involved; and
  • Get the contact information of any witnesses to the accident.

You may be too injured to take pictures and video after an accident. However, if you’re able to gather evidence or have someone else do it on your behalf, this could help you in your car accident lawsuit.

After the accident, save all records of your medical treatment and any bills associated with your medical treatment. Also, when it’s available, get a copy of your accident report. If you have a car accident attorney, be sure your attorney gets that report. Finally, if you know the name of the at-fault driver, do a little research. Sometimes a quick Google search will reveal some interesting details about an at-fault driver.
