The Florida Highway Patrol's reconstruction of the crash revealed that the harrowing sequence of events involved a pickup truck, an SUV, and a motorcycle. All three vehicles were traveling in the southbound direction when the SUV, intending to make a left turn onto Bay Drive, activated its signal and began to slow down before coming to a complete stop. However, the pickup truck was unable to halt in time, colliding forcefully with the rear of the SUV.
