Handling Accidents Involving a Semi Truck, 18-Wheeler or Tractor Trailer in South Carolina

Commercial vehicles are extremely dangerous to other drivers on the road because of their immense size. Accordingly, there are rules and regulations that truckers are subject to that other drivers are not. Additionally, there are more hoops to jump through when a person seeks to get a commercial driver license (CDL) than if a person wants to get a driver license to drive a car, minivan, or pickup truck.

For example, truckers must take extra steps to avoid distracted driving or driving while fatigued. Hence, truckers often have dash cams so their behavior while driving can be reviewed. Similarly, truckers are supposed to keep track of how long they drive and how many breaks they take to avoid fatigued driving.

These rules and regulations are there for a reason. A trucker’s failure to observe the applicable rules and regulations can result in serious injury or death to other drivers on the roads, including our families and friends.
