Tragedy struck in Florence County as a collision resulted in the death of one individual and left two others injured.
According to Cpl. Lena Butler from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, along Secondary Highway 24 near Taylor Circle, approximately 6.8 miles East of Quinby. Butler stated that the crash involved two vehicles.
A westbound F350 pick-up truck on Secondary 24 collided with an eastbound Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the Jeep, while traveling, veered across the road into the opposite lane, leading to the collision with the truck.
Regrettably, the driver of the Jeep succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the accident. They were the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Cpl. Butler confirmed that both the driver and passenger of the F350 sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Emergency Medical Services promptly transported them to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence for medical attention. At this time, the severity of their injuries remains undisclosed.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
