Rollover Accident Kills 27-Year-Old Man from Winter Garden
On Thursday afternoon near mile marker 21 on State Road 429 in Orange County, a crash occurred that took a young man’s life. Sometime around 3:12 pm, the 27-year-old man from Winter Garden was driving south in the inside lane. According to sources, the man went off the right side of the road after he overcorrected while driving. As a result, the driver’s car struck the guardrail and flipped. The man was partially ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, and he died at the scene.
Death by Rollover Accident is All Too Common
Unfortunately, this young man from Winter Garden is one of many who have died because of a rollover accident. According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System, rollover accidents are responsible for somewhere around 20% of all fatal crashes involving a passenger vehicle. Additionally, more than 4% of all fatal tractor trailer and semi truck crashes involve a rollover. Fortunately, rollover accidents seem to be decreasing significantly over the past 20 years or so.
For those of us who remember the 1990s, rollover accidents were much more common than they are today. The Ford Explorer was famously susceptible to rolling in a crash, and lots of people were hurt as a result. Ford began making the Ford Explorer back in 1992. Eventually, sometime around 2002, Ford decided to make some the necessary changes to the Explorer to reduce rollovers. However, attorneys continued helping victims of Ford Explorer rollover accidents after 2002, as long as the Ford Explorer was still on the road.
Over time, hopefully, the rollover accident will be mostly a thing of the past. We’re not there yet, but we’re certainly not seeing as many rollover accidents as we used to.
